Acupuncture
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been used to treat neurological disorders
for hundreds of years, with ancient texts describing treatments for seizures, strokes,
tremors, numbness and paralysis. Acupuncture has been shown to improve and
modulate blood flow to the brain. Modern brain imaging research shows
acupuncture points have specificity, meaning that certain acupuncture points can
activate specific regions in the brain.
Acupuncture can play an important role in:
- Modulating blood flow to the brain
Activating specific regions in the brain - Altering chronic pain patterns of brain activity
- Improving sensory input to the brain
Balancing sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system activity
