Join Dr. John Gorsuch DOM and Dr. Ayla Wolf DAOM Jul 31-Aug 1st, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida for an exciting hands-on workshop addressing the use of electro-acupuncture for pain management.

The electro-acupuncture portion of the workshop includes reviewing basic science acupuncture research to illuminate how acupuncture, specifically electro-acupuncture, effects the Peripheral Nervous System as well as cortical and subcortical regions of the Central Nervous System.  We will look at how electro-acupuncture evoked potentials provide stimulus to certain systems or certain receptors in the body thereby eliciting a therapeutic response in the PNS and CNS respectively.

There will be a segment discussing how to use the Pantheon e-stim machine, and learners have ample opportunity to practice in class exercises with each other.  A discussion on using microcurrent and millicurrent with patients will be covered as well as contraindications for using EA.  In addition, emphasis will be placed on how electro-acupuncture can be implemented in a clinical setting using a brain-based approach for clinical success.  By the end of the workshop, learners will have an appreciation for implementing pain management strategies in a clinical setting and be able to ascertain peripheral lesions versus central lesions or a combination of the two.

This workshop is for the novice practitioner who never used EA and desires to use electro-acupuncture in their practice or for those practitioners who already implement EA in a clinical setting as different levels of neural integration using electro-acupuncture will be discussed.  There will be demonstrations on how to implement EA after conducting neurological testing and how to design a good treatment strategy for each patient.
